No one should have to live with acne scarring. Our acne scar treatments begin with a free in-depth skin analysis and consultation.  We use a combination of laser and topical products to shut acne down and manage future outbreaks. Once the active acne is under control, we can treat the pitted scars left behind. Our Sciton ProFractional resurfacing technology produces outstanding results in as little as 3 treatments, as seen in the photos above. This affordable technology has revolutionized acne scarring treatments. In the past, CO2 resurfacing was painful, expensive and the recovery time was often weeks. Now, with fractional resurfacing, down time and pain are minimized. Recovery time with this procedure is just days, not weeks. With these innovative Halo Medicine techniques, you can help reduce acne scars and restore radiant skin.

We can also treat acne scars with Bellafill, a dermal filler. This filler, with an indication lasting 5 years of longer, is another method of smoothing the pock and pitted marks left behind by severe acne. To find out if Bellafill is right for you, call us to book a free consultation at 847-260-7300.

Treating Acne First

Our ThermaScan acne therapy device is able to destroy bacteria deep in the tissue by using an infrared laser wavelength specifically chosen to treat the acne where it starts—those sensitive sebaceous glands. The laser gently heats up the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the sebaceous glands reduces oil production and kills acne-causing bacteria, thereby reducing the number of active and potential acne breakouts. ThermaScan acne therapy is safe and effective on all skin types and tones.

Using a combination of ThermaScan, ProFractional laser resurfacing and routine aesthetic service treatments, we’re able to achieve dramatic results with acne and acne scaring.

We Are Proud to Use Obagi Products:

There is no magical topical product when it comes to clearing acne universally – but the closest we’ve seen is Obagi. Our Obagi Clenziderm and Obagi NuDerm skincare systems can often clear stubborn acne. When combined with laser resurfacing and customized aesthetic service treatments the results are truly life changing!

What do  Acne Treatments feel like?

During your ThermaScan acne treatment, you should experience very little discomfort. Many clients report feeling a warming of the skin or a sensation that feels like a tiny rubber band snap. This varies from patient to patient however, and depends on the depth of the skin treatment. We can use a topical anesthetic cream on extra-sensitive areas, if you wish. During the treatment, your eyes will be protected from the laser light with safety shields. Your procedure will generally last between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type and depth of the procedure performed.

PhotoDynamic Therapy (PDT) Advanced Acne Treatment

If you are leery of taking an aggressive oral acne medication, we urge you to consider our PhotoDynamic Advanced Acne Treatment. This treatment uses a topical solution of Levulan, or aminolevulinic acid (ALA), to pre-treat the skin. ALA is a natural product found in all humans throughout the body. It is a precursor for hemoglobin synthesis. After the Levulan/ALA is applied, a light source is then used to destroy the acne bacteria. This treatment will also reduce oil glands and sebaceous hyperplasia.

Some patients will experience itching when the solution is first applied, but this sensation is resolved within several minutes. Following the treatment, patients will likely see redness and peeling for a period of 2 to 7 days. It is extremely important that for the first 18 hours after treatment patients avoid sunlight, very bright light and heat. The number of treatments a patient requires can vary, however at least 3 treatments are recommended over a course of 4 to 8 weeks.
