Defensive Carbine I is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to build confidence and proficiency in carbine employment. Balancing speed with precision and proven problem-solving techniques, Defensive Carbine I will allow students to test their abilities in this dynamic and intensive course. Defensive Carbine I serves as a prerequisite for Defensive Carbine II.

  • Safety
  • Gear and equipment optimization
  • Marksmanship fundamentals
  • Zeroing
  • Presentations
  • Methods of engagement
  • Engaging with speed and precision
  • Post engagement considerations
  • Multiple target engagements
  • Tactical/admin reload
  • Critical communication
  • Speed/emergency reload
  • Stoppage clearance and problem solving
  • Pivoting and rapid target acquisition
  • Target engagements on the move
  • Final event incorporating all skills learned in the course.

Required Equipment:

  • 400 rounds of ammunition minimum
  • Reliable carbine, (NFA items are acceptable)
  • 3 magazines or minimum
  • Magazine pouches, (reloading from pockets is acceptable)
  • Sling – One, two, or three-point
  • Ear Protection (electronic preferred)/ Eye Protection

Recommended Equipment:

  • Battle belt or chest rig, or purpose-built messenger bag/active shooter kit
  • Gloves
  • Firearm lubricant
  • Dress how your lifestyle would dictate your likely dress for carbine employment.

 

Prerequisite: Have basic knowledge of the firearm
